Are pumps different in the US? In the UK all pumps stop when you let go of the trigger — it’s impossible to latch them open.

Hey, this is the music aired in the Air Austral safety video. Which music is it?

Sounds like the same people who ignore the Employees Only sign where I use to work. The only words these people saw were words like sale, discount, and free.

If the gas station has huge signs saying “No Smoking” – Man… it shows the small attention spans of some customers.

doubletime23 June 22, 2010 at 11:18 pm

i have people come in smoking and pumping constantly and its like dude, u an idiot?

Vikkoman June 22, 2010 at 11:54 pm

Well, not from cell phones – but from static – Yes. Smoking – yes. It is amazing how people forget about common sense during emergencies.

not from cell phones, its a myth. They proved it on mythbusters

While u may not agree with or understand the things u are told to do/not to do, it does not mean u need not follow them. Please please PLEASE follow what u are asked/told to do by the signs at the pumps and the petrol station assistants, without question and without agruement, it cud save your life.

Wimpoman June 23, 2010 at 2:06 am

I also work at a Petrol station.
While this video states that there have been no reported fires due to cellphone use, I have heard of 2 instances where recieving a text has caused a fire. The main danger is actually dropping them onto the forecourt.

usefull film. And accidents do happen by careless people like the one from the previous post. The video shows enough that there isn’t much needed to ignite. You give them proof and still they disagree.

Kidokpucktoole June 23, 2010 at 2:56 am

A couple things I disagree on: 1) turn off engine, 2) leave cellphone in the car.

Cellphone can never generate sparks and car engines are always running, or worse, starting round about you, what good will it do if yours is off?
