Throughout UK the variety of energy suppliers such as gas and electricity are quite vast with strong brand names such as British Gas and Scottish Power, being known and trusted all over Britain. Although these are the main leaders in what market share is concerned, there is also others that should be taken in consideration, as these keep lowering their gas and electricity prices every year.
To better compare prices nowadays we have the so called comparison sites, that provides us with our main choice factor, especially at recession times – the price. But should we really focusing solely into prices? I beg to differ on that one.
We are growing into a World where everything is moved or works on electricity. Before we had home appliances such as the iron that was powered either by coal or by gas. The times go by and we haven’t still learned how to be energy smart. Eventually we will come down to a point that we will retrocede in time in order to live our day by day lives.

Comparing gas with electricity the first thought that pops into my head, is that gas is way cheaper (Britain) than electricity. If a study would be made on a house that is fully powered by electricity and another powered by gas, the differences would be astonishing! Coming to London, as I’m originally from Portugal, I was surprised seeing every house with gas stoves, as I thought that was a think from the past. The ugly truth is that the first bill came home after 3 months, totalling a sum of around £25. I even called to British Gas afraid that they’ve made a mistake, charging me after a small fortune from not having reported their mistake.
All this to say that, gas compared to electricity is a lot more energy efficient. We can compare it as when use batteries to power a photographic camera. Even if the camera is not on, you know perfectly well that the machine will continue to consume energy. By using Gas appliances there is no waste of energy, and it can help you to reduce you energy bills saving you money on the long run. Imagine, living in an energy smart house fully powered by gas. It will make your electricity expenses reduce by a half at least.
If you ever in the future plan on buying or remodelling your house/flat/business please be aware that the future will be gas, not only for their prices but also due to their energy smart purposes. The world is already seeing the importance of electricity and gas, as natural disasters continue to occur. Gas is also way more easy to store and taken to different parts of the world where you wouldn’t find a plug by miles. Be energy smart and reduce your energy bills, and your carbon footprint by raising awareness of the importance of alternative energy supplies such as gas.
